While I have not actually read Once a King yet, I really like the idea of a trilogy that’s actually a duology with a spin-off. I thought the changes made were much-needed and really elevated the series. I thought some of the plot twists were predictable but, I liked the story so much more. However, despite my lukewarm feelings for Ever the Hunted, I read Ever the Brave on the same day. As the reader, I knew the full story and found their fighting and lying to be quite tiresome. I found that quite irritating since the story is told in alternating POV. The main characters often acted irrationally and tried to lie to each other to “protect” the other. I definitely had problems with the first book.

I had nothing against it, but for some reason, I bought it, and never actually read it. But, after fully diving into bookstagram, I was convinced to finally pick it up. I have not finished all of the below yet.Įver the Hunted was one of those books that sat on my shelf (and TBR list) for a while before I actually picked it up to read it.

But now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, let’s talk about trilogies. If I read the last book, there’s nothing else to read. The reasons vary but it’s usually because I don’t want the story to end. I have a serious issue with not finishing trilogies. I have a confession, before we really dive in.
